A FLORENCE SIX-SENSE SUMMER PROFILE

Welcome to Florence.
It's summer and all of our senses are alive and singing.

Enjoy your tour

HEARING:
As the air breezes through the boardwalk harbor, the sound of sea gulls can be heard as they wait, along with customers, for each morsel of fresh tuna being cut on the boat. How fresh can sushi be?

Just down the road you may have heard a lot of noise where electric saws were busy creating a lot of saw dust not to mention Oregons best wood carved creations

They come from all over to compete in their skills to create amazing wood creations and win awards. These are two winners.

Who would have thought - Maui in Oregon. For a day trip to cool heaven, travel just down the road past Mapleton to "Sweet Creek"Park. With three levels of waterfalls to hike, they rival any falls in tropical Maui - I know i lived there.
"Fisherman Chuck" takes advantage of the great weather and started to pull out all of his fishing "flea market" junk. At the sale I found great stuff for new jewelry ideas and a budding artist with a musical soul. As the breeze came through each fishing lure and flasher, made into a mobile creation, each proudly sang a different tune
SMELLING: Summer in Florence seems to have its own smell from all of the floral and herbal scents. Even the fresh air wafts the pine trees in at the ocean and in parks.
SEEING: The sun is out and shining in Florence. The tourists and shop owners are now enjoying the outdoor cafe' scene. From Bar B Que to Lamb coule' you can find every type of cuisine and friendly people here.

River Gallery in Old Town welcomes visitors with a little sense of humor.

No its not Rhody Time. I't parade time - just an opportunity to tour the many classic cars from Eugene to the coast. This Packard is just the first of many joining a coastal tour group.

TASTING: Taste is always a big deal in Florence. It seems most people lunch all year around. But the seafood call is out and from the docks to the Crab Kettle they are loaded with seaside delicacies waiting for your kitchen.
Jacquie Beveridge, one of the founders of FHE- Florence Herbal Enthusiast group arranged its first herbal retreat this year. We learned how herbs pair with a fabulous salmon just caugtht that morning.

Our new fish shack on the harbor carries dockside fresh catch now. Tis the season! A client waits to get the tuna for dinner - cut from the boat.

TOUCHING:  The Brown Dog Antiques & Gifts on Hwy 101 and 6th, offers thousands of eclectic, antique and artisan goodies just meant to touch. A must see visit before you go home.
