FACA Prize Winning Artist Exhibits
Conscious Nature Collages at Oregon Pacific Bank
6/8/09
Cunningham won two blue ribbons at the FACA 2009 Rhododendron Art Show. Her collage, “Bio Diversity-Drink It Everyday”, captured first place for two-dimensional mixed media and was also selected Best in Show. Additionally, she entered another effort, “A Tea Time Out”.
Cunningham’s work displays a definite message and style. As she explains, “I incorporate a conscious message into my art. As a nature artist, I choose to make an intentional statement through my work, showing how human daily activities we barely note, impact our world. Something as simple as drinking a daily cup of coffee affects rainforests thousands of miles away.”
When you look at her acrylic collage combination you will see she does not always choose the typical coastal subjects. You will see the curiosity of the rainforest animals as their lives are being touched by humans. It is an important reminder that our actions have consequences.
